(2019) My Favorite Games of the Decade

Well, it looks like this decade is about to end. I am planning to do a decade in review (in place of my year in reviews) at the end of this year, but I wanted to talk about something else for now - what were my favorite games of this decade? This was kind of an interesting decade for me, I feel like I really started getting into games in general towards the end of the 2000’s and beginning of the 2010’s through what I had on my Game Boy Advance and games like ROBLOX on my computer, and I feel like 2011 particularly was really when I started paying attention to games in general. I basically went from a retro console loving hipster that hated pretty much anything to do with the FPS genre to someone with multiple consoles, a good gaming PC… and one that actually really likes first person shooter games. And wit...

(2019) Nintendo Switch (2017) Review and Retrospective | The Comeback Kids

For a more recent Nintendo Switch retrospective, click here . For once, I’m actually reviewing a current gen console that hasn’t been discontinued already. That’s right, The Nintendo Switch. A while ago I did a review of the Wii U, and so you know how I feel about it. Despite it’s flaws, I still think Nintendo gave it a good lineup of exclusive games that kept me interested in the system and with the Gamepad it was overall a unique experience that I’ve never really had on any other console, and the fact that the system is so damn cheap these days makes it worth checking out and collecting for. That said, I can definitely understand why the system didn’t succeed in the way Nintendo themselves and their fans wanted to. The poor marketing of the system, confusion surrounding the Wii U gamepad gimmick, and Ninte...

(2019) Sonic Forces (PC/PS4/XBONE/Switch, 2017) | Not Terrible, But Not Great

For a more recent review of Sonic Forces, click here . So let’s take a step back to 2016 for a moment. That year was obviously Sonic’s 25th anniversary, and about that time there was of course a lot of speculation on the next Sonic title and what Sega would do to celebrate the anniversary of the franchise. That was, of course, revealed during the 25th anniversary party livestream when two new games were announced - One being Sonic Mania, and the other being a game referred to as “Project Sonic 2017.” The latter of which as you might know turned out to be Sonic Forces, the next 3D Sonic game in an attempt by Sonic Team to appeal both the classic and modern crowd of Sonic fans. If you’ve been my friend for the past 3 years of course, you might remember that I reviewed Sonic Generations for Sonic’s 25th anniver...

(2019) Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast, 2001) Revisited | Hype Ruined This Game for Me

NOTE: This review was originally posted to Tumblr on May 29, 2019, and has been reposted here for archival purposes. It may not reflect recent events or my current opinions. For a more recent review of Sonic Adventure 2, click here . Oh, boy. Sonic Adventure 2 is a game that there’s been tons of videos over the years of, ending up in a sea of polarization between people who think it’s bad and overrated and others who thinks the game in general held up well and has gotten too much flak over the past few years or so. And in 2015, when I was still using the shitheap that was MLPForums and when I was trying to be a professional game reviewer at the age of 14, I did a review of this game and… well, was on the side of the former. I originally gave the game a 5/10, average score, basically jumping on the whole bandwagon of only a third of the game being fun to play (The speed stages) and the rest of it (The treasure hunting and mech stages) being trash. Yet after all these years and loo...
